Trainer Guide
Harness DaDesktop Virtual Desktops for effortless course training
DaDesktop Virtual Desktops make it simple to deliver online courses from any location worldwide.
Please note: DaDesktop (DD) now supports one or more trainers per course.
Each trainer has their own login and can take full control of the ‘Trainer Desktop’ just like their own machine.
The concept is that both trainers remain on the Audio conference, alternating as needed while seizing control of the Trainer Desktop whenever necessary. This is particularly beneficial for extended courses or those where two subject-matter experts can jointly engage participants.
Before creating a new course
- The Trainer(s) should contact course organizer to provide the following information:
- Course specifics (Course title, schedule, and participant count)
- Location for Trainer(s) and Delegates (so we can advise the best datacentre in Hong Kong)
- Trainer's email address(es)
- Recommended browsers for training
- Chrome
- Firefox
- Microsoft Edge
- Network
- All DaDesktop users need a stable internet connection.
- Using coffee shop Wi-Fi is not recommended due to frequent instability.
- Before training, remember that DaDesktop is a web-based training portal.
- For optimal performance, your internet speed needs to be faster than: "10 Mbps download & 1 Mbps upload"
-
A dual-screen setup and camera are preferred whenever possible.
First step: How to set up your course
- Course coordinators will assist you in setting up the course.
- Add trainers by sending the registration invitation link.
- Each trainer receives an email containing the course details and a login link.
- Trainers can log in using their credentials at https://dd4t.dadesktop.com
- Then, send the course invitations to participants (the pink invitation).
-
Note: Even when multiple trainers are involved, only one Trainer machine is used at any time.
Second step: Prepare your "DaDesktop" in the course
- Click Create from OS template to set up the Fresh Start desktop. This is the workspace where the trainer builds the course content; once ready, it gets cloned to the Trainer Desktop and the Participants desktops. If you already have a 'Standalone' machine containing your course, simply use the dropdown arrow to select that Standalone machine.
- Pick the appropriate OS template, the closest datacentre, and the desired configuration for your training. Then click 'Create Desktop'.
- Connect to the desktop and then set up your course within the DaDesktop virtual machine.
- Should your course need multiple machines, install Virt Manager (recommended for Linux) or VirtualBox within DaDesktop, which lets you create several virtual desktops concurrently. The entire collection of machines will then be duplicated to every participant and to your Trainer machine.
- We suggest converting documents to PDF if using Windows 10 Pro, since MS Office is not built into DaDesktop.
- Download materials and prepare everything just as you would on your own computer.
-
For Fresh-Start machines, always rely on the automatically assigned DHCP IP addresses. DO NOT use Static IP addresses , nor modify MAC addresses or DNS settings, as doing so will lead to issues when cloning to Course Desktop VMs. Likewise, avoid renaming the computer, which can also trigger problems inside DaDesktop.
If you need assistance with any of these points, please contact Tech Support.
Third step: Clone desktop to all participants
- Complete your work on the 'Fresh Start desktop', then exit and stop the desktop.
- In the Trainer section, click "Create from Fresh Start desktop" to produce a cloned desktop identical to the fresh start machine.
- If delegates reside in different regions, use the dropdown next to 'Create from Fresh-Start Trainer desktop' to clone a desktop located in the delegate's region.
-
The dropdown also includes other options such as Clone from Standalone and Create from OS Template.
Final step: Join the Training Room
- Both trainers and participants must click the Training Room to enter together.
- Upon joining the Training Room, the system automatically clones the FreshStart desktop to all participants.
- Within the Training Room, you can capture audio and video recordings automatically.
- Every delegate has access to two desktops—the Trainer's and their own—so screen sharing isn't necessary.
- From the Training Room, the trainer can see all participants' desktops alongside their own, and remotely take control of any individual machine to offer assistance. Participants see only their own machine and the Trainer's Desktop.
