FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)

1. For Power BI and VBA, is Excel available inside DaDesktop (DD)? (Because MS Excel functions are required)

  1. No, we do not provide MS Office within DD (Windows 10 & Windows 11 Pro). What we offer is a DD VM and a training room.
  2. The Trainer(s) should prepare a free trial account of MS Office for all delegates.
  3. Alternatively, they should use their own MS Office account.

2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?

  1. Yes, we've introduced an easy-to-use method to upload files from your own machine to the DD Desktop. One small limitation is that currently only one file can be transferred at a time. However, it's simple to create a zip or archive file containing all the files you need, which can then be copied over easily to your DaDesktop machine.
  2. If using a cloud storage system, please don't forget to log out from your cloud storage before cloning to all delegates.

3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?

  1. If you are using the Chrome browser, please go to: “chrome://settings/system” to turn off the Hardware Acceleration option.

4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?

  1. No, https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register, as per the Terms and Conditions, states that a trainer may not access the wiki.
  2. If you would like to send something for editing on the NobleProg wiki, please copy and paste it into an email and send to the trainer (a PDF is also acceptable).

5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?

Yes! Please whitelist any domains that follow this pattern :-

  1.              *.npg.io
  2.             https://dd4t.dadesktop.com

For any further questions, please contact DaDesktop Support.

6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?

  1. The Trainer(s) can first set up and choose the configurations of DD (RAM, CPUs, and Disk).
  2. Then, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox inside DD to set up multiple virtual machines, and configure the network between them.
  3. After finishing the setup, you can clone to delegates in seconds.
  4. Please contact DaDesktop Support for assistance if required.

7. What is the server capacity?

  1. It depends on the server hardware.
  2. For example: 512 GB RAM can be used as 512 GB *3.
  3. The maximum disk per server is 250 GB; each desktop supports up to 16 CPU threads, and RAM configurations can be customised.

8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?

  1. Yes, recordings can now be downloaded via the three small dots to the right of the video player.
  2. The video includes voice recording if you use the audio from the training room.

9. Which browser should I use for DD?

  1. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera work perfectly.
  2. Other browsers like Internet Explorer are not fully supported.

10. Why is there a huge delay when using DaDesktop?

  1. Check your network connection; DaDesktop performance depends on your local connection speed.
  2. Check your server location: when the coordinator creates the desktop, they will always choose a server near participants in Hong Kong.
  3. Turn off your VPN or set it to PAC mode. Also, please disable any security applications, especially those that affect WebSocket operation, which is required for smooth DaDesktop use.

11. WebSocket is blocked or not supported by the network

Accessing Remote Desktop depends on WebSocket

  1. This could be your device blocking it. Check your settings or configurations that may block WebSocket. For example, on some Chromebooks, in proxy settings, if the “Use the same proxy for all protocols” option is ticked, WebSocket won't work (because it will set the “SOCKS host” with a proxy). Untick it and set the “SOCKS host” to blank. This should resolve the issue.
  2. It could also be the network, not your device. You will need to contact your network administrator or have them unblock WebSocket.

12. What support do you have for GPU, i.e., for 3D applications, etc.?

  1. Please see this GPU page for information regarding GPU support.

13. Are there any potential issues to be aware of?

  1. Generally, using DaDesktop is the same as using any standard Windows or Linux machine, but there are a few small issues that may arise when using specific software applications in a training environment, especially when cloning machines.

14. Do you support Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation?

  1. No, we do not provide support for Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, primarily due to licensing issues that are frequently raised.
